Yes, it won't work since you have the objects grouped. You can either ungroup them or boolean them into 1 solid piece.

I am making an arrow head from a bow and arrow and I had to clone the head to mirror it and make it symmetrical. I then grouped both sides and created the bits I was planning to cut out of the centre. However when I went to boolean them out the option is not highlighted. Any help would be much appreciated
