Looking for database ideas? Topics for creating a database.?

Try chemistry. A database of the properties of all the elements should be manageable, and you might learn something at the same time.

Or foreign languages. A dictionary of the 100 most useful words for a traveller in French, German, Italian and Spanish. You might learn quite a lot there.

Or a catalogue for a bookshop.

Are you doing this in Access, SQL Server, MySQL, etc.? Do you need to build forms and stuff for this? I have some ideas, but building the forms would probably make this way more complicated than it needs to be.

EDIT: Will you be generating queries by hand (SQL) or with tools (a query builder/designer)?

At school were facing a project in which we are going to have to build a very own database. We're now free to think of a topic to start a database on, but I have no idea what to work on. People and adresses are too obvious. Not interested in soccer of football.

Hobbies are theatre/acting, sports (climbing and breakdance), guitar/singing (music?)

Any idea on a specific topic is appreciated. Thanks!
