I am starting a Java programming class in college. I just want to know is it difficult or is it easy?

and how can I learn it without being confusing or difficult if it is.

Thanks.

It is more difficult for some people, depending on your background. The hardest part about starting is learning to "think like a programmer" and being able to break complex problems down into small steps that can be completed with basically yes/no (binary) questions.

The best thing you can do is do more practicing than the class requires. You will honestly leave the class still at a very basic level if you just do the required work. Instead, do the required work, but then push yourself further. If they make you open and read a text file, do that, but then make a separate program and (using the Internet) learn how to make files, make folders, create and open an Excel CSV file, etc. When you have questions (and you will have lots of questions) first try to start a new Java file and see if you can't experiment to find the answer yourself.

If you do this, you will learn at a much faster rate than other beginners in the class who only do the required work. Also, when the class is over, create a "curriculum" from only tutorials and resources to keep working. Just like with math, you will forget what you learned very fast if you don't keep using it. After learning new things for a while, try starting a real project with it to make some software you would actually want, such as a website or a game.

It can be tough, and there will be times when you likely will want to quit, but programming is awesome!

If you are taking it as your first programming language, then of course you will face a lot of difficulties. In that case I will suggest you to learn C and C++ first. However, you can also learn Java directly as I did but things will be much more complicated till the basics of programming will not be clear (since Java uses some or in fact many concepts of C and C++). In either case It is not that tough. The core java is however much more simpler than advanced Java.

If it is your first language, it might a bit challenging. How can you learn it.....well, try to understand every small step. The worst thing is to lose yourself at some point because you didn't understand the small pieces. Don't get behind. And above all, don't get annoyed by programs not working or give up or hate to be challenged. Programming is all about challenges, finding new ways of doing things, troubleshooting 'till your program works. If you approach it with an open mind, you will love it. Have fun.

No... it's simple if you are interested in Java and Programming. But remember to eat good food while being programmed and be THANKFUL FOR THE FOOD YOU EAT. Just saying....

I personally have worked in Java and also jquery.

i understand you have started to learn java, well it can be long to type but not necessarily difficult. once you have learn basic of java u can work with jquery to ease your self.

Hope this is helpful to you

Some people have an aptitude for it and others don't.

It will be easier if you *want* to learn it, but if you wish you didn't have to take the class then it will probably be difficult.

Generally, programming is learned one small step at a time, but make sure you understand each step or you'll get behind.

If you want to ask questions here, make sure you post your attempt at writing the program. Don't expect us to do it for you.

Yes learning JAVA is difficult.

The struggle you're in today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow.

It was easy as hell for me. Just stick to it and you will get along with it. Introductory java courses just gets you familiar with the syntax and all. So it won't be much of a hassle if you pay a little attention.

If you have great interest in java than It's not difficult for you.

JAVA is a script language thereby makes it somehow difficult but i will give you some materials

Thanks.

if it is your first time programming, you will struggle a bit because its hard to get your head around the concept of object oriented programming. once you pass that curve, you are good to go

it is more difficult as compared with c & c++ but if you work hard then its become easy.

it depends on how many languages you know
