Uk Computer science degree that is mostly based on programming?

Computer Science is more software related anyway (unless you specialize in something like, artificial intelligence or something), Computer Engineering is hardware focused. Computer Science is a lot of programming/software engineering but it's more theory, you won't really be learning "practical" coding techniques as you would in a college (2 yr program), it's a lot of theory, and explains how things work rather than just giving you a bunch of tools, teaching you how to use it and saying "go ahead".

If you just want to code for a living then go to college, pick up lots of languages and learn how to code then jump into the industry. If you want to someday perhaps run your own projects, more lead roles and easier entry into the BIG software firms (think IBM, Google, Facebook), you might want to consider a CS degree instead. Salary is higher with a CS degree as well.

In CS there is a lot of theory and behind it, a bit of math (since CS was initially a part of the mathematics department, it's an applied form of mathematics). Therefore if you are scared of mathematics, I suggest really brushing up on your skills and really trying if you decide to go CS.

Basically CS = Software Engineering except more theory, you will be learning HOW things like LinkedLists work, how Tree's work, analysis of algorithms and databases, the key word is "how", in a community college or college, all you have are a bunch of general guidelines but you can import anything and everything to get the job done, in CS you can't do that, you have to write your own to show you know how these structures and concepts work.

Hi I want to study computer science at uni and am into the programming side of it more than like hardware and really complex maths stuff, I was wondering which course you think is best for this? Is computer science the best type of course for this aswell or should I do something like software engineering?
