Those websites DO use plain English, you're just ether too lazy or too little to grasp the basic concepts like "drag and drop". Have no fear, though, because laziness and inexperience can be obstacles, but anyone can overcome them with some effort. I started making websites when I was 8. Were they high-quality? Hell no! I didn't even know how to add in a sidebar until I was 10 (using the old version of webs.com). Again, it's all about how much effort you put into it. If I had hardcore worked on website making, I could have figured out the sidebar in 6 months. If I only put a little bit of effort, it would take me like 2 years (which it did). And if I acted like you are right now, it would take me like who knows how freaking long... you might never figure out how to make a website if you don't follow the basic instructions!! It isn't hard... you have the internet at your fingertips. Talk about simplicity - you know how many people had to go check out books at the library to complete essays? Now citing a book source in an essay is like...over-achieving (at least in my area).

My point is... it's very easy if you put in just a little bit of effort. If you can't handle figuring out what "drag and drop" means, then you can't handle making anything but a way-below-mediocre website. It's all about effort, and I guarantee your website can kick butt if you try! ;) good luck

I abhor jargon (and I'm a software engineer who has worked on military developments) but there has to be a balance between general understandability and using words that have precise meanings where the alternative would be reams of "plain English".

If you make the small effort required to learn the meaning of commonly-used words and phrases, you'll soon be following instructions without even thinking about the words used.

I'm always confused when people complain about certain words or terms like "drag and drop" I mean it literally doesn't get any more clear than that. If you don't understand drag and drop you really should look into basic computer controls.

If you are looking at making your own site you should really look into web design first. Especially if you want to hire someone to do it.

Because "the English people use" doesn't have words to explain the concepts that are needed to make a website. If you're not willing to learn some basic terminology, it's not going to work right and you're going to blame the website for not being magic.

I have tried stumbling my way through WIX, weebly, and other sites. Currently, I am fumbling my way through webpages.com, and I have the exact same problem, on every single web-site.

So far, I have found not one, single, web design site, which is WILLING to post its instructions in clear, simple, "people speak" English.

Why do these web-sites REFUSE to post directions, like this:

Step 1: Enter personal information

Step 2: Enter proposed web site name

Step 3: Enter site content (products/stories)

Step 4: Publish to internet

Why do these sites keep insisting upon using "techno-babble" phrases such as "drag and drop", "platforms", "network connectivity", and so on.

Why do these sites REFUSE to speak the English which people use, to speak, to family, friends, and neighbors?

Why such a passionate refusal to use a language which the general public understands?
