Help with software packages used in graphics?!?

"Most pros today use the Adobe Creative Suite--Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Some do page layout in QuarkXpress instead of InDesign.

3D graphics are usually created in one of the high-end programs, such as 3ds Max, Lightwave or Maya. NCH Software offers a free graphic editor called DrawPad. Check it out here: http://www.nchsoftware.com/drawpad/index... - see first source

However, not just the full suite of high-cost suites are available:

Pixlr

This is one of the best and offers a couple of different programs on one site. The three programs appeal to different groups with differing interests and needs, so you simply have to pick the one that is best for you. There is also a connected extension for Firefox to help you grab images.

Splashup

Splashup is a relatively simple editor that is user friendly but powerful. It has most of the important tools available for use. The website also provides a simpler, light weight version for those uninterested in more complicated tools.

Sumo Paint

This is a full featured program that isn't lacking in tools and features. It is available as a free version, but it also offers paid packages as well as an app for iPads. The highest tiered package includes a version for offline use.

Aviary

This is a simple photo editor. However, it is impressive due to its high availability. The program is available for computers, tablets and mobile phones. This means you can edit on the go wherever you are with whatever you have on hand.

Adobe Photoshop Express

This is a mobile app which is used on phones and tablets. Offered by Adobe, it is definitely a good choice for an online editor, especially if you already trust and know Adobe products. It lacks some bells and whistles, but it is still a great tool.

Whatever your reason for wanting to work online, there are programs that give you the best experience possible without losing any of the perks of a full downloadable program.
